THANKS to all who made Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at AOC/Heading Home so full of love and Gods joy! In every way, the founding principles and mission statement of our beloved parish came fully to life.
Some farewell thoughts from Rhonda+ and Tim (meant for us all):
In beauty may I walk.
All day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With grasshoppers about my feet may I walk.
With dew about my feet may I walk.
With beauty may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk
With beauty above me may I walk
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk. It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.
-Navajo Blessingway Prayer
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
Our Mission Statement guides everything we do at San Gabriels. At San Gabriel the Archangel Episcopal Church, we are called to share the Christian faith and by our lives to proclaim Gods love.
To this end, we will:
-joyfully welcome and affirm all of Gods people.
-focus time, talent and treasure on outreach.
-provide a sanctuary of prayerful and sacramental healing.
-value excellence and diversity in shared liturgy and learning.
-intentionally model a new way of being church.
Continuous sharing with our neighbors who are hungry: The non-perishable food you bring for the Roadrunner Food Bank barrel goes directly to our neighbors in Corrales; the microwaveable food you place in the basket in the worship area helps the 88 men at Albuquerque Heading Home Shelter/AOC who are transitioning out of homelessness. Your faithfulness to these ministries is a beautiful thing.
Monthly outreach: Because of your generosity, the Vestry is able to authorize on-going monthly disbursements of $200 each to Haven House, a shelter for women and children who are escaping domestic violence, and AOC/Heading Home which helps 88 men per month transition out of homelessness. These gifts help with basic supplies like groceries and toiletries for our sisters and brothers who are in need.
